The Book of Ephesians – Introduction

ephesiansThe book of Ephesians was a letter written by Apostle Paul, from prison, to the church at Ephesus,to give the Christians there an in-depth teaching about how to nurture and maintain the unity of the church. Likely written between 60 – 63 A. D, it is referred to as the “book of the church” and is thought to have been intended as a circular letter to be passed around many churches as it does not address any specific problem or situation like Apostle Paul’s other letters to other churches.  Though written many years ago and addressed to a different audience, the letter to the Ephesians is appropriate for the present day Christian who longs for Christ-like maturity.

Have you ever asked yourself the question “Why am I here?” . The study of the Book of Ephesians will help to strengthen and establish believers so we can fulfill that which God has destined and purposed for us. It will help us to further understand and know who we are in Christ, and to realise the impact of what God has done for us out of His graciousness, mercy and generousity. This book offers practical advice on how we can live and thrive in this present age as we are called to be holy, blameless and faithful in every facet of our lives, and in all we do.

We are reminded that the battle we fight is a spiritual one and we must be ready at all times. God has fully equipped us to stand our ground as we are destined for warfare (against the enemy) and dressed for battle. With our “whole armour” intact, we can face anything the world or our greatest enemy (the devil) throws at us. The Book of Ephesians is indeed a wealth of revelation and wisdom, which when properly applied will bring order in every area of our lives.

Just like the 1 John series, I would be sharing my thoughts on each chapter of Ephesians as I study it. I hope you will enjoy reading my summary and I would be very glad if you could join me in studying this awesome book so we can share our thoughts and rub minds. I pray that God will help us all to fully understand His ways and His purpose for our lives. Amen!

Word of the day…
Hebrews 7:25 – Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him,since He always lives to make intecession for them.
