…it's all about connecting to the True Source!

Letters From The Wild – Two (By The Traveller)

This is a great article from an amazing woman I am priviledged to know so closely. Known simply as “The Traveller”, she is one person who inspires me and I will be featuring her articles every now and again. This is the second article in a series tagged “Letters From The Wild”. I hope it blesses you as it has blessed me.

Two

This piece has definitely been long in the making, from the heart and soul of one who is fighting to keep the faith in a world gone crazy, from one whose heart aches every day. It’s part heartache from the sheer mess that the world has become and part heartache from the ‘Great Disconnect.’

It’s clear the world has gone south, morals don’t exist anymore. The last time decency and good virtue were extolled was when most of us were tiny tots, when we heard tales of the old lady who sat by the bedroom door as a marriage was consummated, waiting to examine the stained sheets. Now, who cares? Infact, most men would recommend a woman come to the marriage bed deflowered, what’s the excitement in a novice? Now, gay marriages are approved in churches, morals are non-existent, civilization has brought with it an erosion of man’s conscience and good values. Nobody wants to take the high road, it’s much easier to cater to the base nature of man.

We see clearly everyday how the world is steadily going downhill with no seeming hope of salvation. When you think you’ve seen it all, there’s more just around the corner. It beats me how in the midst of all the chaos, everyone just seems happy and content. I can almost hear the earth groaning in pain at all the misery, violence, bloodshed and mourning she carries in her belly every day.

For sure the world is fast spinning downhill and there seems to be nothing looming in the distance to break its fall. It’s clearly in the grip of the desperate evil one, trying to drive it to a very bloody end. We thank God for the confidence we have, that when the chips are down, God holds the joker.

heavenandhellSpeaking of which, I come to my second source of heartache, the Great Disconnect.

It’s the disconnect between God and the many people who call themselves by His name. It’s the lack of harmony between God’s standards and the standards of His people, the Christians.  I have a tangible pain in my heart when I look around and see what Christianity has mutated into. Now it’s hip and in vogue to be a Christian, everybody goes to church, everybody loves to worship, lift up their hands, speak in tongues and join a unit.

The sad paradox is how our lives don’t seem to match up with the life of this God we say we serve. We do not want to be held to any standards, no matter how glaringly the word of God has pointed it out. We want to have our fill of the collapsing world and the best of God at the same time. It just is so painfully sad because we can live in denial for as long as we wish but God will ever be God and He will hold us to His standards because He can never lie, neither can He be inconsistent. That’s precisely what He had in mind when He said in the word that, “…the Lord knows those who are His, so let those who name the name of the Lord depart from iniquity” – 2 Tim 2v19.

Why would we fool ourselves? Because clearly, God can’t be the one who’s being fooled in this whole mix. He has us down to the motive behind the motive for which we do all that we do every second; pure, unadulterated visibility to the inner recesses of every man.

It’s not easy to be a Christian in the true sense of the word. It’s tough and hard in the world of today. It can never be more aptly described as it has been described, as a narrow road, and it is Oh so narrow. Terrible things are tugging at you every day, temptations are sold every street corner, 2 for 5 cents. It’s cheap and easy, stress free, nobody even needs to know.

But we are called to take the high road, the road which pays us better, because on the long run, this world is going to fall down and great will be its fall. We should stop pretending we don’t know what God requires of us, the pertinent issue is our willingness to obey and live by His standards and not ours or the world’s.

Let’s pick ourselves up from the mire, let’s fix our perspective and be sincere about what really matters. All this glitz and glamour WILL come to an end, even if not all at once, bit by bit, one by one. Ask Elvis Presley, Princess Diana, Michael Jackson, even ask the richest King that ever lived, Solomon. It all ends.

Why would you want to sit put in a sinking boat? Or play games with the one you call your friend and father? It’s true, it’s tough out there, we tend to fall many times but God is looking out for our hearts, if we latch hold on to Him with a sincere heart, He will bring us home, He can and He will.

A good place to start will be to decide if you want to walk with God and how you want to walk with Him, all the way or not at all. There are no in-betweens, God doesn’t do in-betweens. Then commit to this cause with all your heart and proceed to seek Him with your whole heart. Be sincere, if you have issues praying, reading the word, desiring Him; just tell Him, you have a blank cheque. As you do, He’ll gradually work in you and make you what He desires. It will take some concerted effort to keep your side of the bargain, i.e. making the right choices by God every day, but the dividends far outweigh the pain of sacrifice and really, God does give grace ?
